Microchips do not require activation. They must, however, be registered! You can log in through the Pet Owner Sign up/log in tab to register or review your file.

The initial registration can be submitted instantly online by the Pet Professional that implanted the microchip or by the Pet Owner.  This registration does not certify ownership however it provides contact information if the pet is found stray.

Basic Registration: The basic registration includes the Pet Owner’s profile (name, address, email and up to three personal phone numbers), the pets profile (names, species, breed, sex, neuter status and date of birth). It also includes the external tag, implant date and implant clinic name as well as the breeder or rescues profile if applicable.

Premium Registration: The premium registration includes all the features from the basic registration as well as an image, medical alerts, alternate contacts, veterinary details, registration number for city tags or pure bred registration numbers. The premium registration has a one-time fee to add the additional details.

You can log into your account to make changes to your profile.  Once logged in you can click on the Profile Settings tab to update your personal information including address, phone numbers and email.  If this is the first time you have accessed your account and your profile already exists in our system you can select forgot password with the email listed on you profile to gain access to your account.

We understand how stressful it is when your pet is missing, and we want to help!  We have included a Missing Pet Notification form online which will instantly add a missing alert to your file as well as an option to print a lost pet poster with your details. This will help you get all the important  information out as quickly as possible.  While logged in be sure to review your contact information to ensure it is up to date.  We also recommend contacting your local Humane Societies, SPCA’s, Animal Control agencies, and vet clinics in the immediate area to let them know that your microchipped pet is missing. The more people who know you’re looking for your pet, the better!

The external tag is a small, round, metal tag that EIDAP provides for free as an additional Id to get your pet home quickly.  This tag has EIDAP’s contact information and a unique 6 or 7-digit number on it that we link to the microchip registration.  This allows access to your information if your pet is found and identifies your pet as having an EIDAP microchip.

We recommend that you list someone like a friend or neighbour as your alternate contact. A family member that lives nearby is also a good choice. Your alternate contact should be someone we can contact if we can’t reach you, so it should not be someone with the same phone numbers as the owner (i.e.: a spouse). We can list your spouse as a co-owner, on your profile.

The person listed on the file as owner can authorize the transfer to you at no charge.  They can do this by logging into their account and transferring the pet to you under the pets profile tab or by sending an email to info@eidap.com authorizing the change to you.   If that option is not available,  you can complete the transfer request with payment online.   Once payment has been received we will review and obtain the necessary authorizations to update the file.

A transfer request is not required if the owner on file is deceased or if a rescue/ pet professional can provide surrender documents from the owner on file.   All supporting documents can be sent to info@eidap.com for review.

If your child is over the age of 18, yes. The person registered as the owner needs to be able to take legal responsibility for the pet and its registration.

Yes. EIDAP supplies the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) with their microchips. This means that if your pet is ever picked up stray, the microchip prefix (the 956 at the beginning) will always lead to us first. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you register your dog with both the CKC (for the pedigree), and with EIDAP (for identification and recovery). To register with EIDAP, log in and complete the premium registration online, a one-time fee will apply.

Our policy requires that any changes to a record must be made by the currently registered owner of the pet. If you are the alternate contact on file, we will not be able to process your request. Please have the registered owner update the file and they can add you as a co-owner if they wish.

Absolutely! Any microchip can be added to the EIDAP registry by logging in and completing the premium registration which has a one-time fee to register.  Keep in mind that the microchip’s prefix (the first three digits) may lead to a different microchip company, so it’s a very good idea to keep the registration up-to-date there as well.

Yes. you can register any address in our database.  There is no additional fee to add a foreign address on file.
